Why We Built This Site
North Carolina gives the public broad access to many court records, but Surry County does not use a separate district clerk or county clerk system for trial-court files. The Clerk of Superior Court is the unified local court clerk for Superior Court and District Court records, and the same office handles estates through the clerk's probate role. The Register of Deeds is separate and handles marriage licenses, marriage certificates, land records, assumed business names, and local vital-record certified copies. The Sheriff's Office manages jail and law-enforcement records through its own channels.

- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
